Evan Setley, ACSW

About Evan:
Evan Setley is an Associate Clinical Social Worker who approaches therapy through a depth-oriented, trauma-informed lens that prioritizes the therapeutic relationship. His warm and collaborative style empowers clients to look inward, exploring parts of themselves that may have been overlooked in the past. Evan believes this process can foster profound growth and symptom relief. He tailors treatment to each client’s unique experiences, identities, and goals, rejecting a “one-size-fits-all” approach.

Education and Multicultural Expertise:
Evan earned his Master’s degree in Social Work from Boston College, where his training emphasized understanding psychological difficulties through the lens of cultural and systemic influences. As a member of Boston College’s Latinx Leadership Institute, he completed Spanish-language courses addressing issues specifically impacting the Latinx community. Evan provides therapy in both English and Spanish, ensuring an inclusive and culturally responsive experience for his clients.

Professional Experience:
Evan’s diverse clinical experience includes serving as a crisis counselor for local and national suicide hotlines, providing therapy at a community mental health clinic, and working at a substance use facility serving veterans and first responders. He has also worked with children and adolescents in schools and community settings. His year teaching English in Spain expanded his worldview, allowing him to hold multiple cultural contexts and truths simultaneously, which informs his practice today.

Therapeutic Philosophy:
Evan approaches therapy with the belief that healing occurs through relationships and that unseen forces may contribute to personal struggles. He prioritizes creating a safe, nonjudgmental space for clients to explore their inner worlds and feel more connected to their authentic selves and communities. At the core of his work is the conviction that true presence and deep listening can serve as powerful tools for transformation.

Outside of Therapy:
Outside of the therapy room, Evan enjoys exploring local hiking trails and beaches, seeking out beautiful sunsets, and finding moments of peace and inspiration in nature.
