Academic Background:
Dr. Jean Hayes is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with over 50 years of clinical experience in the field of mental health. She earned her Doctorate degree in Clinical Psychology from the Wright Institute in Berkeley, California, and has dedicated her career to providing thoughtful, deeply informed care across diverse clinical settings.


Extensive Clinical Experience:
Over the course of her career, Dr. Jean has worked as a therapist, educator, supervisor, and leader. She has served as a professor of family therapy at a university in San Francisco and has worked extensively with individuals, couples, families, and groups. Her clinical approach integrates psychodynamic psychotherapy, family systems, and solution-focused work, with a strong emphasis on trauma-informed care and the long-term impact of early life experiences.


Training with Leaders in the Field:
Dr. Jean was personally trained by and later worked alongside pioneering figures in family therapy, including Carl Whitaker and Virginia Satir. As part of this work, she traveled internationally with them, providing lectures and clinical trainings to therapists across multiple countries. This experience deeply shaped her clinical perspective and reflects a rare level of immersion in the foundations of modern family therapy.

Her work is grounded in a trauma-informed framework, focusing on the healing of childhood experiences and their impact on identity, relationships, and emotional functioning in adulthood.
