About:

Filippo Maria Forni, Ph.D., CST, LMFT, is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and AASECT Certified Sex Therapist dedicated to supporting individuals and couples across the full spectrum of sexual health and intimacy through a compassionate, sex-positive, and trauma-informed lens. With advanced training across multiple therapeutic modalities, Dr. Forni brings a rigorous, evidence-based approach to his work with individuals, couples, and families navigating a wide range of psychological and relational challenges.

Experience:

Dr. Forni holds diplomate-level certification in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), reflecting his deep commitment to structured, research-supported interventions for anxiety, depression, and related concerns. As an AASECT Certified Sex Therapist, he is uniquely qualified to address sexual health, intimacy, and relationship concerns with clinical expertise and cultural sensitivity.

Drawing on both Gottman Method Couples Therapy and Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT)—two of the most extensively researched and widely respected approaches to couples and family work—Dr. Forni helps partners build stronger communication, deepen emotional connection, heal attachment injuries, and navigate conflict with greater understanding and skill.

His training as a trauma therapist further equips him to support clients working through the lasting effects of adverse and traumatic experiences, using compassionate, evidence-based approaches tailored to each individual’s needs.

Professor and Supervisor:

Dr. Forni is also dedicated to the professional development of the next generation of therapists, offering supervision that is both clinically grounded and culturally responsive. He currently serves as an Adjunct Professor at Pepperdine University, where he contributes to the training of emerging mental health professionals.
