“Trauma is not what happens to us, but what we hold inside in the absence of an empathetic witness.” ― Peter A. Levine

About:

Tiffany Nguyen is a therapist who provides somatic, trauma-informed and relational therapy to individual, couples, family and group therapy. She is a curious agent and co-partner in client’s mental health, emotional resolve, and overall wellness journey. In her work, she considers the systemic connections that invites us to reckon with the ‘what’s wrong with me’ to ‘what’s wrong for you’.

As a first-generation Asian American, bilingual (English/Vietnamese) and Marine Veteran therapist, Tiffany is attuned to understanding beyond the masks, the performances, or perfection of being human in environments that oppresses the magic of you. She creates and holds space for your autonomy, agency and stories where you get to have your own real lived experiences in relation to the world around you.

Therapeutic Experience:

Tiffany has training and experience in various of therapeutic modalities but aims to support a client-centered experience towards change and the fullness of life. She draws from social constructionism such as narrative therapy and collaborative language system (CLS) to dismantle the dominant stories that keeps us stuck in perpetual cycles of pain, hurt or negative memories. Tiffany understands the systemic barriers of socioeconomic statuses and social locations of cultural variations that lacks contextual factors such as diversity issues and multidimensional landscapes.

As an empathetic witness, she offers new experiences in rewriting the script, rewiring your nervous system from survival to aliveness, and reclaiming your life through evident-based and mindfulness practices. Her experiences in community mental health and multicultural counseling allows her to offer more than just talk therapy where practical tools can be applied in the therapeutic work to enhance client’s growth, exploration, and healing.

Education and Professional Experience:

Tiffany has a dual Masters of Art degree in Marriage and Family Therapy and Industrial-Organizational Psychology. In addition, she is basic trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and a Certified Somatic Breathwork™Practitioner. She specializes in family systems therapy, play therapy, emotionally focused therapy (EFT), cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), internal family systems (IFS), and CLS for chronic stress and diseases, depression, grief, anxiety, neurotypical and neurodivergent gifts, trauma and PTSD, and life transitions.

Tiffany has over 15 years of experience in counseling, psychology, spirituality and the military, both professionally and personally. She knows what it is like to be a client through her own work and continues to be a lifelong learner.

Outside of Therapy:

Tiffany enjoys the mundane life by making time for play and movement rather through nature, travels or good food. Being human too, Tiffany is active in her own life with new experiences and hobbies with friends, walking her big Labradoodle sweetheart, and slowing down to witness the art of childlike wonder.
